Congratulations Presley Nelson–AKA “Lil Bench Press”–you are the Actualize Sports Athlete of the Month for March!

Presley is the LIFE OF THE PARTY. And what a delight it has been to have her light up Actualize for the past 2 years. She has grown immensely in terms of strength and athleticism. And even better, Presley’s confidence has transformed!

Since 2019, Presley has increased her 1 Rep Max 50lbs for both her Bench Press and Front Squat. She has also added 4 inches to her Vertical Jump and almost 8 inches to her Broad Jump.

But this is where is gets fun, check out some her last two months of progress since January 2021:

  • Bench Press –  1 Rep Max: 105lbs to 120lbs
  • Front Squat – 1 Rep Max: 125lbs to 150lbs
  • Hex Bar Deadlift – 1 Rep Max: 265lbs to 295lbs
  • CMJ Vertical Jump: 17.7in to 20.1in
  • CMJ Broad Jump 79in to 80in

This progress is HUGE! Especially because Presley is not untrained. She has 2 years of strength and conditioning experience and still saw amazing changes.

Presley’s hard work is not unnoticed, though she is a quiet grinder. She doesn’t ask for recognition even when it is well deserved. Presley was one of the few who continued to show up all summer long when we took Actualize to the asphalt in the parking lot due to the COVID lockdown. She never peeped a true complaint as long as we bumped some Cardi B. And this is where we saw her Deadlift 1 Rep max of 225lbs for the first time! She definitely is one to make the most of a not so ideal situation.

And I wasn’t the only one to notice her efforts. Take it from her gym BFF, Katya Kazulina. Katya expressed, “The best part of training with Presley, besides her amazing dancing, was definitely seeing her find her confidence. When I first started training with her, I would notice she would rarely attempt maximal lifting that Jenny knew she could do. However, as months went on and she got more comfortable, she began to attempt those big weights, almost always being successful at them. Seeing her come out of her most recent Deadlift max with a confident smile afterwards really made me proud of how far she had come. As Presley goes on to other things in life, I know her competitive and driven nature will allow her to accomplish anything she works for.”

I’ve loved watching Presley’s friendships blossom! Her joy and silly nature is contagious. I think we would all agree that it’s a good training day with Presley as long as we get to lift some heavy weights and bust it down to a certain un-mentionable rap song. ;D

Presley, you have a drive for success that shines through consistency and humility. We are so proud of your growth and accomplishments, Presley. Keep it up!

“LIGHT WEIGHT, BABY!!!!!!”

Love you,

Coach Jenny
