In October 2015, two years ago this month, Duncan Favor started his journey with Actualize. Passion filled, a tad shy (swagger is his middle name now-a-days), eyes set ablaze on doing everything in his power to play college baseball, Duncan joined a group of elite male high school athletes as the young kid in the group.
Looking back, Duncan was a bit overshadowed by the 6 older athletes—all of which transitioned as scholar-athletes to the collegiate level. It wasn’t because he had any less drive, effort, purpose and potential. He was just green and beginning the adventure toward pursuing his goals, whereas the others were ending their time with Actualize. The leaving sentiment of the group was, “All of us but Duncan are competing in college, work hard for two years and you’ll do the same.”
As the timeless proverb and universal truth declares, “You reap what you sow.” But there’s a catch…you reap excellence if you sow quality effort, but you have to sow to reap. You can have the most cutting edge training, nutrition and tools at your disposal, but if you don’t show up, and sow through the blood, sweat and tears of each step of the journey’s grind, you won’t reap…you won’t Actualize your purpose and potential.
Now, Duncan is a high school Senior and the older guy in a group with athletes who are just as green as he was two years ago. He’s demonstrating to them what it looks like to have big hairy audacious goals, what reaping and sowing looks like to attain them.
We were overjoyed today to hear Duncan has received his first verbal offer to play collegiate baseball—and we’re believing more are on the way!

Well done, Duncan! We couldn’t be more proud of you. It’s been an honor to walk with you the last two years. While I couldn’t be more thrilled for how you’ve transformed your athleticism and body, and stayed injury free, I’m even more impressed with the man you are and will become. Keep sowing and reaping…just four months until your Senior season, let’s do this!
